R480: Medieval Murder and Mayhem in Splash Spring 2012 (Apr. 01, 2012)
The Middle Ages were a time of great transformation and revolution. This course will focus on a common misconception: that the medieval period was rife with death and wanton savagery. We will explore violent relations throughout the period, and also use modern theory to explore how these violent relationships played a part in medieval society.

A481: The Twilight Zone and Society in Splash Spring 2012 (Apr. 01, 2012)
The Twilight Zone is without a doubt one of the most influential television shows of the past 50 years. This class will explore several themes found in the show, ranging from Cold War paranoia, anti-intellectualism, racism, and many more. It will also try to pinpoint the show's influence on mainstream society today.

S17: Living with the Undead: Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse in Splash Fall 2010 (Nov. 06, 2010)
"The ideal of the zombie apocalypse has fascinated society for years. This class will focus on how the lucky survivors deal with the zombie-infested end of the world. Topics include how to avoid infection, appropriate weaponry and other methods of defense, and maintaining one's own humanity in the face of such terror. Sources we will look to may include Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead, the films of George Romero, Max Brooks' Zombie Survival Guide, and many more. Participants will leave this class armed with information that, when the time comes, may prevent them from joining the morbid ranks of the undead.
