Whether you love the Bard of Avon or find him “loathsome as a toad”, he remains today one of the greatest names in the history of Western literature. To shed some light on this, we will be looking into the theatrical and thematic elements of his plays, as well as the historical context of Shakespeare’s career. You will leave the class with a better understanding of Shakespeare and his plays, and insight as to why people still bother to read and perform them 400 years later.
