We‘ll be examining the life and works of Fyodor Dostoevsky and Natsume Soseki, and see what it is these writers can offer us, and what life lessons we can learn from them.
Q2183: A Brief History of 19th Century Russian Literature in Splash BC Splash 2022 Fall (Nov. 13, 2022)
Starting from Pushkin and Lermontov up to Dostoevsky, Tolstoy and Chekhov, we'll go over the major writers of the "Golden Age" of Russian literature, the progression of writing styles and what distinguishes Russian literature from this period.
H2156: Literature in Anime in BC_Splash Spring 2022 (Apr. 10, 2022)
What do Osamu Dazai, Edogawa Ranpo, Fyodor Dostoevsky and Soseki Natsume have in common? They are all characters featured in anime (and apparently their namesakes are famous authors as well?)! In this class we are going to look at anime and the relationship it takes with literature and philosophy. We'll be looking at different portrayals of writers and themes in their works in anime and look at the writers themselves, to see what makes them so interesting.
