A763: Well That Painting's...Different in Splash Spring 2013 (Apr. 07, 2013)
In this course, we'll look at art history from a theoretical standpoint. Why do different cultures draw the same thing in different ways? We'll examine depictions of the same subject over different times and places from prehistory to today in order to try to determine why different styles develop.

C898: BC Splash Small Groups in Splash Spring 2013 (Apr. 07, 2013)
The BC Splash team believes that the best way to experience Splash is to join us for the entire day! The best way to do this is by participating in small groups lead by two Boston College students (Splash Leaders) in the morning. During this time you will have a mini-orientation for the day as well as participate in fun activities with your Splash Leaders! The group will be encouraged to have lunch together and can even play quad games as a team! You will be placed in your small groups when you arrive so if you want to be with your friends that can be arranged at check-in.

A255: Exploring The Lost Museum in Splash Fall 2011 (Nov. 13, 2011)
The Lost Museum is the name art historians use to refer to all of the works of art that we no longer have. Stolen art, destroyed art, lost art & changed art all are a part of 'The Lost Museum'. In this class, we'll explore a museum that doesn't really exist. We'll look at works of art that should be in museums but aren't for some reason. We'll talk about art theft, destruction from war and the value of art over time.

A257: Egg Timer Art History in Splash Fall 2011 (Nov. 13, 2011)
Ever wondered what somebody means when they say "rococo"? Do you get lost in museums (literally or figuratively)? Do you wonder how humans went from cave paintings to pop art? This class will attempt to give a very brief overview of Art History in 50 minutes. Using an egg-timer to keep us on track, we'll go through 10 distinct periods of art and talk about the defining characteristics of each to give you a broad idea of the development of human creativity.

X348: BC Splash Outreach Representatives in Splash Fall 2011 (Nov. 13, 2011)
Outreach Representatives will get to mingle with the BC Splash team members in appreciation for their work.

A145: Talking About Art 101 in Splash Spring 2011 (Mar. 27, 2011)
Have you ever gone to a museum and been completely baffled by the art? Do you like paintings but want to be able to appreciate them more? Do you just want to look at nice pictures? In this class we'll look at paintings (most of them in museums in Boston) and talk about how to go to a museum and appreciate art without knowing anything about the artist or the history. Using Wolfflin's five tensions of art as a guide, you'll learn how to appreciate art and also a few terms to impress your friends.
