This course will examine the popular culture of 1960s America as portrayed in the AMC hit drama Mad Men. A decade that led America away from its conservatism and towards liberality, the 1960s witnessed cataclysmic shifts in the American way of life, and the popular culture of the 1960s reflects these dramatic changes. Such topics as disillusionment, war, feminism, and love will be covered by looking in upon the life of the suave and intriguing Don Draper.

Quod tu es, ego fui; quod ego sum, tu eris. To learn what this Latin phrase means and how it applies to us today, we will examine modern authors including C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, and T.S. Eliot in relation to their counterparts in the ancient world including, Caesar, Cicero, and Vergil.
