R790: Slavery was awful and Jefferson was a jerk in Splash Spring 2013 (Apr. 07, 2013)
This class will examine some of the most frightening and morbid aspects of American slavery - from Nat Turner's slaughter of white children, to punishments for escaped slaves. Further, the class will focus on Thomas Jefferson as a not-so-great guy (particularly with his opinions about slavery).
