Brief Biographical Sketch:
Matthew Barad has worked in public policy for three years, and is currently the president of a political nonprofit in Colorado. Questions regarding the nature of society, and what form it should take, have always intrigued him. For this reason, Matthew is excited to teach through BC Splash and share his passion with a group of engaged students. The little known play Crainquebille, written by Anatole France in 1922, is the story of a simple street peddler who finds himself the victim of a great crime -- but who is there to blame? Through examining George Orwell's 1943 adaption of this short text, we will uncover the nature of justice and whether a fair society can truly exist.
