Splash Biography

Humans have been around for a long time. As time has progressed we have drastically changed the natural world we were born into, but biologically, we are practically the same creatures we were over 200,000 years ago. What does this mean? How did they experience life, and what remains of them in us? This class will consider the key agents that permanently changed the world, with a focus on energy commodities, modes of communication, and conceptions of the unknown in relation to how we spend our lives as normal people. Specifically, once we have considered some history in this way, we will discuss the present and the future. I hope to hear from you about what we can be excited about, what we should be worried about, and what values we should keep in mind when we consider what to do with our human lives to best address the problems of our time.
