During its 40 year history, the video game industry has innovated itself into a major source of entertainment. Its technologies allow players to compete, connect, and explore on a level not seen in any other medium. However, what is most striking about the industry is the growing push to apply the mechanics of level design and gameplay to tell compelling and emotional stories. In this class, we will look at how video games have taken traditional archetypes of storytelling and redesigned them in a new and exciting way.
