A1169: The Dougie is the Same Thing as the Twist: How Pop Music Hasn't Changed in Splash Fall 2014 (Nov. 16, 2014)
Though separated by years and genre are Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Kesha, Lady Gaga, and the likes one in the same? Was your grandmother's taste in music really that different from yours? Truthfully, music hasn't changed that much since the 1950s. Come find out why and how.

X1006: Convincing People of Your Ideas: A Crash Course in Arguing in Splash Spring 2014 (Apr. 06, 2014)
This class strives to teach people how to argue their ideas, in both written and verbal forms, by looking at how other people - from Abe Lincoln, to Jesus, to that guy who sold the Shamwow - have tried to do so. Course will be both humorous and analytical.

R910: Pop Music as Poetry in Splash Fall 2013 (Nov. 17, 2013)
With the expansion of recorded music over the 20th century, pop musicians have become modern day poets. As the 16th and 17th centuries had Shakespeare, the 20th and 21st centuries have had Dylan and Springsteen, Lennon and McCartney, Chris Martin and Taylor Swift. This course will focus on Bruce Springsteen's epic "Thunder Road" in order to learn how to analyze and understand music in a poetic sense and how to apply the lessons learned to a larger context, both literarily and philosophically.
