S1387: Superconducting Levitation in Splash Fall 2015 (Nov. 15, 2015)
High temperature superconductors represent one of the most exciting unsolved puzzles in modern physics. One amazing property of these materials is their apparent ability to levitate when placed in a magnetic field. In this course, students will get to observe a variety of demonstrations of this amazing effect while learning about some of the physics that causes it to occur.

S1303: Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream in Splash Spring 2015 (Mar. 29, 2015)
Who doesn't love science and free food? This course will provide a brief overview of some of the physics behind the flash-freezing of "soft-matter" systems, but will mainly focus on one of its tastiest applications: ice cream. Students will observe and assist in the process of preparing ice cream using liquid nitrogen as a rapid coolant and afterwords, will be able to enjoy their creation with an assortment of toppings.
