X996: Southeast Asian Student Association: Who am I? in Splash Fall 2013 (Nov. 17, 2013)
In this class, we will give you the tools to define yourself. First, we will explain how you are a product of culture as well as unique and individual life experiences. We will then shed light on the complexities of ethnic and racial identity and how they play a role in making who you, who you are. Finally, we will conclude by showing you how you can begin to define yourselves in high school and beyond!

Game theory is a lot of fun and is also a big part of our everyday life. Formally, game theory is a framework which economists use to mathematically capture behavior in games, but it also has lots of real life applications. Should a goalie dive left, right, or stay in the middle? What is your best strategy at an auction? In this class, we will discuss various key game theory concepts like nash equilibrium and dominant strategies. We will also play lots of fun strategy games and practice using game theory. There will be prizes!


M449: The Dating Game: Mathematics of Love in Splash Spring 2012 (Apr. 01, 2012)
Finding love can be complicated, and the path to it is often treacherous, attempted only by the bravest souls. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! In this class we will attempt to simplify finding love down to a single equation. We will mathematically model a famous dating game. Consider the following scenario: you are seeking a spouse, and obviously, want to find the best match possible. How can you maximize the probability that you select your best match? How many dates should you go on? What is your best strategy? Using this game as an example, this class will cover many exciting topics including, but not limited to discrete mathematics, probability, and game theory.

As a class, we will come up with a business idea and discuss different business models while covering topics like venture capital, valuation, and the startup culture.

X90: The Medical Science of "House M.D" in Splash Fall 2010 (Nov. 06, 2010)
Ever wonder if any of the bizarre cases in House are possible? This class will take you through different episodes and explain the medical jargon. Students will also get a chance practice diagnosing patient "x" in a hypothetical case using what they have learned in class.

If you like being a boss, then this is the class for you. We all have an entrepreneurial side, come learn about what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and how to build a career doing what you love everyday. We will explore many topics including but not limited to: how to go about building your own company, why you shouldn't write a business plan, the start up culture, why starting a company is similar to jumping off a cliff while building an airplane on your way down, venture capital, valuation, and the funding process.
