Brief Biographical Sketch:

Roy Y. Chan is Founder & CEO of Philanthropy for America (PFA), a national movement to enlist, equip and empower Millennials in the workplace. Roy is Ph.D. candidate in Education Policy Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington with a doctoral minor in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis. He holds a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Boston College and an M.Ed. in International Education from The University of Hong Kong. Roy is originally from Long Beach, California, USA and holds a bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law & Society from the University of California, Irvine.

Since Fall 2012, this award-winning class has provided students with the knowledge and skills they will need to make the college application process as painless as possible. Specifically, this course will examine all aspects of the college application process from selecting the right college/university to submitting a winning college application, and hopefully will have you feel ready to hit the “submit” button before the November 30, 2015 deadline for Fall 2016 admission. Some topics/themes we will cover are: a) Understanding Admission Factors, b) Early Admission Procedure, c) Developing a Financial Plan, d) Writing Personal Statement, e) Calculating GPA & SAT, f) Asking for Letter of Recommendations, as well as g) Taking Campus Tours. At the completion of the class, ALL students will receive a complimentary "2015 Guide to New England Colleges and Universities" from the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE). A833: So, Do You Want To Be A Star?: An Introduction to the Entertainment Industry in Splash Spring 2013 (Apr. 07, 2013)
Do you like to act, model, or sing? Do you have what it takes to enter the entertainment industry? Do you want to be famous in the future? In this session, we explore the hidden secrets of the entertainment industry and whether you have what it takes to become famous in Hollywood. The presenter will teach you “what you need to know” and “who you need to know” to become positive role models in an industry that influences our entire culture. Additionally, the presenter will provide students industry tips on reading monologues, performing cold read, walking on fashion runway, as well as wearing industry appropriate attire. At the end of the class, a small acting script (cold read) will be performed by each student in front of the class. FREE entertainment industry materials organized by “Actors, Models, & Talent for Christ (AMTC)” will be distributed at the end of class (valued over $3,000+).
